An 82-ball 74 by vice-captain Govinda Poddar went in vain as Odisha lost to Maharashtra by 40 runs in their second Group C match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy Tournament at Palam A Ground in Delhi today. Chasing a victory target of 218, Odisha folded up for 177.
Earlier put into bat, Maharashtra posted a competitive total of 217 for eight. Shrikant Mundhe shone in the Maharashtra win, hitting a half-century and bagging four wickets for 35 runs. Odisha will play their third match against Delhi on December 13.
Meanwhile, Odisha Cricket Association made two changes in the team, replacing pacer Suryakant Pradhan and left-arm spinner Dhiraj Singh with medium-pacer Ankit Yadav and off-spinner Subham Nayak respectively. Pacer Pradhan and left-arm spinner Singh were ruled out for the remaining matches after they got injured during net practice yesterday.
